Alexis Basso is a potter based in Glasgow, Scotland.
His work reflects an appreciation for simplicity, quiet forms and muted tones.
All pieces are made from natural materials.
Clay comes from the ground, formed by the weathering of rocks and the movement of water. Alexis mainly works with stoneware clay, sourced locally in the United-Kingdom. Once fired, stoneware is particularly durable which is ideal for tableware and other functional pieces.
Glazes are made with water, raw materials and small amounts of oxides. Alexis makes all of his glazes in-house using recipes that he's meticulously developed and refined over time.
